Well Done Grace & Hannah!

Below is an article from the Gympie Times, featuring the girls and their achievements.

TWO Gympie school girls have had fun playing for Queensland at the recent National Junior Football Championships.

Both Grace Vogler and Hannah Waltisbuhl from Cooloola Christian College travelled to Canberra and played in the state under 13 girls team.

All up 12 teams across Australia competed.

Vogler and Waltisbuhl play in the local Valley Rangers club and were pre-selected for the Queensland team at the Queensland country championships in 2010.

From there they attended two selection camps at the Gold Coast, one in September 2010 and one in January 2011, and were finally picked for the Queensland squad.

Vogler was named co-captain of the side.

“Over the two selection camps, training and the carnival I formed some close friendships with girls from all over Queensland,” she said.

“Hannah and I were challenged as the standard of football in Canberra was very high with the speed of the game quite fast. Being named co-captain was an honour and it was a great experience to lead our team on to the field and during the matches.”

For Waltisbuhl, playing for Queensland was a privilege.

“Competing at this level really pushes you to give your very best,” she said.

“I really enjoyed playing the games with the Queensland team and sharing the experience with Grace was a neat bonus.”
