Congratulations Amber!

Hervey Bay's Amber Maxwell has recently competed at the Under 15 Girls National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.

Congratulations to Hervey Bay's Amber Maxwell on her performances for the Football Queensland Under 15 Girls team which contested in the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour last week. Amber performed extremely well and managed to score two goals during the competition for her efforts.

Well done Amber!

Below is an article from the Fraser Coast Chronicle, featuring Amber & her achievements, prior to her heading off to Coffs Harbour.

AMBER Maxwell has only been playing soccer for four years.

She’s come a long way in a very short time.

The 15-year-old Fraser Coast Anglican College student has played her way into earning her first state call-up.

Maxwell, a striker, who plays her club soccer for Fraser Flames in the Fraser Coast League women’s division II competition, has been named in the Football Queensland under-15 girls’ team to contest the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour in July.

Rival state goal-keepers should be on their guard in New South Wales when Maxwell gets the ball at her feet – she has scored an impressive 17 goals in only five games for her club team this season.

It comes as no surprise that Maxwell said she was looking forward to wearing maroon for the first time.

“My dream for the past two years has been to represent Queensland – now my dream has become a reality and I am so excited,” Maxwell, a fan of English Premier League champions, Manchester United, said.

“When I saw my name in the team on the email it felt so great.

“I cannot wait to play for Queensland.”

But how hard has it been for Maxwell, a Wide Bay representative, to achieve her dream?

“A lot of hard work,” she said.

“You really have to be extremely dedicated to both playing and training – I have determination and commitment in everything I do.

“Saying that, I just love soccer – I live and breathe it.

“I would say that I’ve enjoyed every moment of my career to-date.”

With her dedication and passion for the game, Maxwell said even though she’s made the Queensland team, she has no plans to stop there.

“I’d love to play for Australia – that’s my next goal.”
