Centre of Excellence Program
An overview of the Centre of Excellence Program for 2010 is:
- Wide Bay Rep players will train with Wide Bay exclusively from Feb to June (20 weeks) as part of the Centre of Excellence (COE) Academy
- COE players will play weekly in club fixtures with their own clubs, in their own CAs (preferably one age group higher than their age)
- COE teams will play eight (8) intra or inter zone matches against other rep teams on designated Sundays
- Upon return from the State events in June, the COE program will finish, allowing players to train with their clubs in the lead up to the end of the season. Specialised training sessions will be maintained for all players named in State squads or teams in the lead up to their State selection
- COE teams will attend two State selection events, one is an intensive two-day academy in Bundaberg (April for boys; June for girls); the second is the State selection titles (Townsville in June for boys; April in Mackay for girls)
- COE players will not be eligible to play CA rep as they need to give preference to the highest level or representative football available to them. COE teams will play against CA Rep teams as part of their Academy preparation and training
