Regional Development Officer

The Regional Development Officer (RDO) for the Wide Bay Region is Mr Greg Caulley.

The Zone Council welcomes the appointment of Mr Caulley by Football Queensland (FQ) and looks forward to working with him to develop football throughout the region.

What does the RDO do?

Basically, the role of the RDO is to develop football across the region. In order to achieve this, the RDO travels throughout the region to visit clubs and help identify their coaching and training needs. One of the most significant aspects of the role will be the implementation of the new FFA National Coaching Curriculum. This will be rolled out in Queensland over the next 12 months and implemented by RDO's under the direction of the new State Technical Director, Mr Peter de Roo.

Some of the other responsibilties of the RDO are to:

  • Develop and implement a Zone Wide Coaching Plan that is specifically targeted to up skill coaches from Grassroots level through to Senior Licence level and build a network of highly qualified coaches throughout the Zone who are then able to be instructors for various license levels
  • Work closely with the Director of Coaching in each CA, as well as club, CA and Zone coaches to develop and implement the National Coaching Curriculum
  • Appoint coaches to Zone representative teams
  • Be an active participant in selection, coaching and training of Zone representative players
  • Attend all rounds of the Wide Bay Championships in order to identify players for Zone trials
  • Development and implementation of training program for Zone representative players
  • Travel with Zone teams to State events
  • Organise trial matches for all Zone representative teams
  • Pre and post trip education of coaches and players on fundamental areas such as nutrition, hydration, behaviour, selector expectations
  • Liaise with State selectors regarding ongoing monitoring and mentoring of Zone representative players
  • Develop and implement a Schools-based program, with particular focus on encouraging girls to play football fixtures
